A Neuropsychological Assessment of Dementia in the Olivopontocerebellar Atrophy


Abstract
The olivopontocerebellar atrophy is a group of diseases characterized by the neuronal loss in the cerebellar cortex, basis pontis, and inferior olivary nuclei.
The author reported a case of the olivopontocerebellar atrophy, of which cerebellar signs and symptoms like gait ataxia and dysarthria were prominent, and cerebellar atrophy was found on the computerized axial tomography of brain. Mild dementia
was
noted by the neuropsychological tests in that patient. Besides of the case report, articles about olivopontocerebellar atrophy were reviewed.
